The Bruker Nano Analytics (BNA) Division, headquartered at Bruker Nano GmbH in Berlin, Germany, develops, manufactures and markets X-ray systems and components for elemental and structural analysis on the micro- and Nano-scale. BNA's product range comprises analytical tools for electron microscopes, including energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometers (EDS), wavelength-dispersive X-ray spectrometers (WDS), electron backscatter diffraction systems (EBSD), micro-spot X-ray sources for Micro-XRF on SEM and micro computed tomography (Micro-CT) accessories, as well as mobile and bench-top micro X-ray fluorescence (Micro-XRF) and total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) spectrometers.

 

Location

 

The Product Support Engineer/Specialist is a field based position. You can live anywhere in the South/ SW (TX, KS, OK, UT,)  as long as you are close to a major airport.

Responsibilities

As the Product Support Engineer/Specialist, you will perform the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of Bruker Analytical x-Ray products.  

 

Duties will include

  • Analyze malfunctioning x-ray equipment and determine corrective action. Replace faulty components and make necessary adjustments and alignments. 
  • Install analytical x-ray equipment. 
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to written P.M. procedures. 
  • Prepare and submits reports covering all job activities with accuracy and detail. 
  • Participate in on-the-job training of field service personnel when required.
  • Suggest methods to offer improvement to equipment performance and functionality. 
  • Travel up to 80% in North America.
  • Provide repair and training support for Madison, WI. office as requested.

Additional responsibilities

  • Between assignments be available during normal working hours for immediate response to reassignment and telephone support.
  • Remain in contact with assigned customers to ensure that there are no unreported problems.
  • Promote and maintain service contracts in assigned region.
  • Keep up-to-date on new product and product changes within sphere of activity to increase capabilities and skills.
  • Conduct all field assignments according to service department procedures.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by manager. 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze, diagnose, and repair complex equipment problems in a minimum amount of time.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner with both internal and external customers.
  • Familiarity with the operation and use of standard electronic test equipment.
  • Familiarity with the use of personal computers.
  • Excellent customer service skills. 
  • Ability to make timely and effective decisions. 
  • Excellent customer relations skills. 
  • Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. 
  • Ability to travel up to 80%. 

Education and Experience 

  • Advance degree in chemistry, physics, material science or related area of study. AA degree in electronics, military electronics training, or equivalent experience 
  • Three years previous service experience installing, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electronic systems.
  • Experience with computers, multiple operating systems and equipment control/processing software. 

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $70,000  and $113,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role.The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive in addition to a full range of benefits including 401(k) with company match, an employee stock purchase plan, medical and dental plans, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance, employee assistance program and paid time off including vacation, sick time and holidays, and more.
