Overview

Bruker is one of the world’s leading analytical instrumentation companies enabling scientist to make breakthrough discoveries and develop new application that improve the quality of human life. Our high-performance products and high-value life science and diagnostic solutions are trusted by leading businesses, institutes, and scientists worldwide. Today, more than 8,500 employees at over 90 locations are working on this permanent challenge to make the world a better place.

Bruker Spatial Genomics (BSG) is focused on opening a new frontier in spatial 3D genomics and multiomic analyses. We are committed to the development of a novel technology platform allowing progress in genome-wide visualization of spatially resolved 3D chromosome and chromatin architecture in individual cells and cell populations in situ. We bring together the premier spatial omics approach, jebFISHTM, with leading-edge imaging, data acquisition and analysis capability.

Our pioneering in situ technology enables examination of some of the most important questions in genomics and gene expression at the single cell and sub-cellular level. We aim to find the best talent in the field to join and contribute to this extraordinary endeavor, becoming a critical member of this groundbreaking opportunity.

Join us as a key contributor on our journey towards advancing spatial omics approaches at Bruker Spatial Genomics. We are seeking a dynamic scientist / engineer to integrate system level features (bioassay, hardware, and software) to optimize performance of the BSG platform, for interrogating chromosome and chromatin architecture. Collaborating with a diverse team of molecular biology, wet lab, imaging, and software experts, you will pioneer cutting-edge experiments, mapping spatial gene activity and expression. Your demonstrated fluorescence microscopy expertise and passion for collaborative work in a fast-paced startup environment will drive transformative discoveries.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an expert at the intersection of bioassay, hardware, and software (i.e. system level) development for imaging of fluorescently labelled biological samples.
• Design tests to verify that performance of new system level features are met.
• Perform validation testing, and provide detailed feedback and analysis of results.
• Develop and optimize instrument parameters for the ultimate in performance.
• Create custom test samples for validating system performance.
• Track all system changes and validate the implementation.
• Provide bug reports and feedback to the hardware, and software teams.
• Work on hardware troubleshooting/upgrades.
• Support the optimization of performance of the platform for spatial multi-omic profiling applications.

• Prepare research reports and share findings with the team. Write protocols, develop procedures, and maintain accurate records. Clearly communicate and present results; contribute data for making critical design decisions.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in physics, applied physics, molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience or a related field and 3-6+ (BS/MS) and 0-2+ (PhD) years of hands-on fluorescence microscopy experience in an academic or industrial setting.
• Knowledge of advanced fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) or other in situ fluorescence probed-based techniques.
• Experience with advanced fluorescence imaging techniques and microscopy image analysis.
• Experience in troubleshooting and optimizing imaging instrument parameters for maximum signal and throughput.
• Proficient in standard molecular biology techniques such as sample preparation, nucleic acid amplification and purification (RNA/DNA), qPCR, and DNA sequencing or similar molecular biology techniques.
• Experience in troubleshooting and optimization of molecular biology assays including reagent formulation and workflow optimization.

• Experience with experimental design and data analysis. Must be capable of performing complex multi-step experiments with detailed and diligent attention to technique and protocols with accurate record keeping.
• Desire to be part of a rapidly evolving organization, which requires real-time communication, flexibility, working well with others, and a willingness to learn new techniques and methods.
• Highly motivated with excellent attention to detail. Good communication (oral and written) and collaboration skills.

Additional desirable skills to have (not required, but desired)
• Experience in product development including product release.
• Familiarity with basic statistical data and error analysis. Familiarity with single cell and/or spatial transcriptomics, fixation chemistry, Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experience in cell culture and tissue preparation techniques.
