The Principle Buyer plays a critical role for developing, implementing, and maintaining a commodity strategy that supports and enhances the

company’s material objectives including optimizing cost, quality, and continuity of supply for relevant commodities. This position is also

responsible for supporting the Supply Chain operations in production planning, managing high volume of MRP Signals for materials and

providing general support to internal customers (manufacturing, engineering, marketing, customer service, and others) on day-to-day issues.

This individual handles details of a confidential and critical nature and must function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment.

The work is highly independent, and the Principle Buyer may act as a Team Lead.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for developing, executing, and maintaining all aspects of Supplier Management for assigned commodities.
  • Procure materials, supplies, capital equipment and services for all functional areas.
  • Develop and investigate supply sources. Issue request for quotations, proposals, or bids for those items not covered by an existing purchasing arrangement as well as analyze the suppliers’ submittals when received and present the results with recommendations to Leadership.
  • Maintains an awareness of current market conditions and information to keep abreast of sources, pricing, as well as marketconstraints.
  • Pursues target costs with suppliers in an assertive manner. Makes substitution recommendations where savings in cost or better delivery can be realized without sacrificing quality.
  • Actively ensures Supplier’ Contracts compliance.
  • Work with minimum supervision with using independent judgement.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Requirements (Education, Experience, Specific Skills):

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in supply chain or business management. Significant work experience accepted inlieu of a formal degree.
  • 7 or more years of related experience in a regulated environment. Experience in ISO, GMP or FDA regulated environments preferred.
  • Working experience in the biotech/life science industry is preferred.
  • Familiarity with an ERP system, preferably SAP or  Microsoft Dynamics Navision
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills
  • High degree of detail orientation and inter-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight.
  • Ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to manage communications from both internal and external sources.

 

At Bruker, base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $90,900/ yr and $150,000 provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on a several job-related factors, including, but not limited to education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge and travel requirements for this position.
