The Bruker Field Microbiology Application & Sales Specialist (MASS) supports all microbiology platforms and associated ancillaries within the Microbiology and Diagnostics Division. The primary focus, the Bruker MALDI Biotyper, is a revolutionary product which uses mass spectrometry to produce rapid, accurate and cost-effective microorganism identifications. The Field Microbiology Application Specialist is responsible for sustaining and growing Bruker MALDI Biotyper business in the markets addressed.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site and factory-based application trainings for new and current customers for all MALDI and IR Biotyper protocols.
  • Proactively contact current customers quarterly, in a respective territory, to provide product and service information, product updates and to resolve any current customer issues. This may include but is not limited to new product launch information, software updates, library updates, hardware or software troubleshooting, and basic or advanced Biotyper training needs.
  • Generate new sales leads for Bruker’s products and services in the Clinical and industrial market by educating potential customers on all microbiology products.
  • Work cooperatively with Service and Sales Team to implement a sales strategy to increase consumable & accessory sales (Sepsityper, STAR, Biotargets, Fast Shuttle, Pilot, etc. in region).
  • Communicate and develop strong relationships with the field sales teams to relay pertinent information regarding current and future customers. This information can include but is not limited to pricing, product development suggestions, and customer support satisfaction.
  • Support TPAs in the assigned territory to increase sales of instruments in Food, Beverage, Agriculture, Pharma, and Research Markets.
  • Attend local workshops, trade shows, congresses, or seminars according to the needs of the region as well as provide seminars and talks to promote Bruker M&D line of products. (MBT and IRBT mainly)
  • Adhere to company policies for expense control and meeting expense budgets.
  • Provide monthly lead generations and customer training metrics to the MAS Manager.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty in a satisfactory manner.   • Deep and focused knowledge of the clinical, food, pharma, environmental or veterinary microbiology laboratory.
  • Proven ability to promote company products and services to a variety of prospects and customers and secure sales commitments.
  • Strong verbal, written, and technical presentation skills, including MS Office with advanced Excel applications proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple tasks and deliverables.
  • Must be self-motivated and willing to take ownership of projects assigned by the management team.
  • Ability to travel on a routine basis and maintain a current Passport/US VISA/VISA as required for international travel. Occasional weekend travel will be required. The MAS must plan and execute individual travel per company travel guidelines and within expense budget objectives.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to manipulate small hand tools.
  • Proficient in English language

Education and/or Experience: 

  • Bachelor Degree in Microbiology, Bacteriology, or similar PhD desired.
  • Previous experience in Industrial Microbiology field desired but not essential.    

Computer Skills

  • MS Office Excel, PowerPoint, Teams & Outlook
  • Sales Force or other CRM tool

 

Other Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of microbiology coupled with a energetic personality, flexible, business development and relationship management capabilities. A positive attitude is a must. Spanish & English required.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Travel schedule will vary and will depend on sales activities and instrument annual goals. Each installation and training will take up to 2-3 days to complete.
  • Office days are permitted and scheduling will be at the MAS discretion
  • The installation process may require lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, and squatting and may also involve working in dusty and dirty laboratory environments.

This position reports directly to the Bruker MID LATAM Region Manager.
