We have an opening for a Field Service Engineer for our MALDI Biotyper (MBT) products to support customers in South America (Brasil, Argentina, Uruguay, Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay).

Responsibilities

Provide Field service support for MBT customers in South America including:

  • Installation and qualification of new MBT instruments at customer sites (hospitals, government labs, universities and alike)
  • Provide basic operating training to customers
  • Provide remote (WebEx) and on-site technical support
  • Diagnose instrument problems and order required parts for repair from local service center in Atibaia, Sao Paulo
  • Work closely with factory experts and TPS department on troubleshooting and failure diagnostics problems
  • Perform preventive maintenance visits as required by service contracts
  • Participate regularly training courses (US/Europe) to be up-to-date on the product line and any new software and hardware features
  • Prepare timely reports on each service calls to Service Manager
  • Work according to quality system and in compliance with regulatory requirements for medical equipment
  • Travel on a 24h notice in the entire territory as required for immediate technical support of medical equipment in hospitals

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications:

         

  • BS in electrical, biotech or chemical engineering related field or equivalent experience preferred
  • Professional, demonstrated experience in diagnosing, repairing and servicing analytical instruments based on optical spectrometry, mass spectrometry, analytical X-ray or similar technology and/or complexity preferred.
  • Experience in clinical lab environment preferred.
  • Fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, basic English (read/write) a must for intercompany communication and to participate international training courses
  • Ability and willingness to be on the road for more than 60% of the time.
  • Familiar with Microsoft office tools, Excel, WebEx etc.
  • Strong presentation skills along with strong communication skills.
